Ospedale di Prato (Hospital)
Emergency
Emergency room: Pronto Soccorso. Open 24h. Free for life-threatening situations regardless of nationality.
If your documents, passport, or valuables are stolen, go here to file a police report (denuncia). Required for insurance claims.
Prato Centrale Station
Transport
Healthcare for EU citizens
Bring your EHIC card (European Health Insurance Card). This covers non-emergency medical treatment at Italian public hospitals at local rates. Present it at any ASL (public health service) clinic or hospital.
Healthcare for non-EU visitors
Travel insurance with medical cover is strongly recommended. Emergency care (Pronto Soccorso) is provided regardless of nationality for life-threatening situations, but non-EU visitors may be billed for non-emergency treatment.
Pharmacies (Farmacia)
Green cross sign. Widely available throughout Prato. A rota system ensures one pharmacy is open 24h in each area — the address of the nearest night pharmacy is posted on every pharmacy door.
If your documents are stolen
Go to the Questura (police station) and file a denuncia (police report). Keep a copy — it’s required for insurance claims and for your embassy to issue emergency travel documents.
Embassies
The nearest embassies and consulates are in Florence (around 25 km away). For embassy contacts, search your country’s foreign ministry website or check esteri.it for all foreign representations in Italy.
Consumer emergencies
If you have a serious dispute with a supplier or business, contact the local Camera di Commercio di Prato: po.camcom.it · +39 0574 612 111.
